The troubled French composer Henri Duparc destroyed all but forty of his compositions; we present a selection of his exquisite songs, and a short orchestral work. Either side, the music of his compatriots Bizet and Ravel, and to open, two German-speaking composers: Beethoven's setting of Metastasio, and Schubert's venture into the Italian style.
